Manual install of NSX 6.2 VIB’s

Preparing your hosts for NSX in production is usually fairly straight forward, in my lab however I only have a single host, so this will fail.

To manually install the VIB’s I first have to find the path, this can be done by navigating to https://<NSX-Manager-IP>/bin/vdn/

Using WinSCP I copy the files to the ESXi host in the /tmp folder

I then use the command, note that the “–maintenance-mode” to ignore that my host is still running all my VM’s, this is not for a production deployment however.

esxcli software vib install –maintenance-mode -v “/tmp/VMware_bootbank_esx-vsip_6.0.0-0.0.3521449.vib”
